5 Ways To Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Your Kids

Written By: happycamper

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so it’s time to start planning how you’ll celebrate the day with your family. Spending time with your kids is one way you can show them how loved they are. Do something to make the day extra special since the kids have been stuck at home for so long. From crafting to baking, there are so many ways to make Valentine’s Day a little extra fun this year while celebrating at home.

Here are 5 ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your kids!

Make Valentinesvalentines

This is an obvious choice, but your kids will still love it. Get all of the craft supplies out — glitter, construction paper, glue, sequins, rhinestones, pink and red feathers — and let your kids create the valentines of their dreams. Mail them to friends and family in lieu of delivering in person. They’ll love getting mail on Valentine’s Day! If you’re needing some inspiration on what to say inside the cards, include some of your favorite things about that person. Or you can go the traditional route and try to speak through poetry.

We’ll get you started. “Roses are red, violets are blue…”

Get Craftyhearts

Make Valentine’s Day garlands of construction paper hearts. Use pastel colors and write phrases on them to make them look like candy hearts.

Other Valentine’s Day craft ideas include: heart dreamcatchers made out of pipecleaners, cute pom pom monsters or love bugs with googly eyes, heart stamps and paint, bracelets, tissue paper flowers bouquets, and heart wreaths. Anything pink, red, or heart-shaped will be perfect for Valentine’s Day!

Bake Dessertschocolate covered strawberries

It’s Valentine’s Day, so why not give a little sugar to the people who make your life so sweet? Ask your kids what kind of dessert they want to make, and let them help you! Strawberry and chocolate are two ideal ingredients for all Valentine’s Day desserts.

Some easy Valentine’s Day dessert ideas include chocolate covered strawberries, heart-shaped sugar cookies and strawberry milkshakes.

Make Valentine’s Day Chex Mix with pink and red M&Ms, strawberry chocolate candy melts, Rice Chex and red or pink sprinkles. Simply melt the candy melts, mix with the Chex Mix and M&Ms, then top with sprinkles.

Another easy snack is strawberry pretzel sticks. Cover the top half of a pretzel stick with strawberry frosting, then top with crushed nuts, sprinkles or mini chocolate chips. Put in the refrigerator so the frosting hardens.

Create A Scavenger Huntheart tic tac toe

Spend Valentine’s Day on a scavenger hunt with the kids. Make a themed list of items to find, and then walk around your neighborhood. You can go Valentine’s Day themed with these items: something red, something pink, a rose, flowers, a heart-shaped rock, something beautiful, candy, a couple smiling. Check them off as you go!

Or make a specific scavenger hunt that can take place in your own home. Write the clues on paper shaped like hearts, and send your kids on a fun Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt at home.

Take Family Photoskid with heart

Spend the day making memories you’ll be able to revisit. Have a fun glamorous Valentine’s Day photoshoot with the kids! Kids can pick out their favorite outfit, and get all glammed up. Parents can do the same. Find a unique spot inside or outside, and set up some props. Use a red tablecloth as a photo backdrop, or string up some construction paper hearts to set the frame.

Put on some fun music so you feel inspired. Then set up your phone with its 10-second automatic timer and strike a pose! Your kids will love getting dressed up for fancy photos with the family, and you’ll love looking back on the pictures!
